The Civic Light Opera's live broadcast of the Gene Kelly Awards for Excellence in Musical Theater scheduled for Saturday on the Jumbotron at Theater Square, Downtown has been canceled due to technical difficulties, representatives said.

Quaker Valley is one of 22 Allegheny County high schools gaining at least one nomination in the annual Tony Awards-like ceremony.

The school's production of "Footloose" earned a nomination for best lighting design in the 18th annual event.

The awards ceremony will be held at 7:30 p.m., May 24, at the Benedum Center, Downtown. Gene Kelly's widow, Patricia Ward Kelly, will be part of the event.

Tickets are still available to see the show live at the Benedum Center by calling 412-456-6666.
