Parking and Business

All I here from the businesses in town is there is not enough foot traffic. Just look at all of the empty storefronts.....it's an indication of just that.......NO foot traffic. The idea of a parking garage is ridiculous and the elimination of the revenue, or at least part of it, would be replaced by more business. Perhaps costs could be cut at the borough level. where does the revenue go from meters anyway?

Several years ago we used to drive to Sewickley for a great lunch. On an unusually busy day at The Sewickley Cafe we returned to our car a little late and found the bicycle riding cop just putting a parking ticket on our car. I told him the meter couldn't have run out more then a few minutes ago and he clearly didn't care. I told him the ticket made my $9.00 hamburger cost 30% more in Sewickley and he acted like he didn't hear me. I haven't had that parking ticket problem since because we avoid lunch in Sewickley.

that is not surprising. i know of one long term meter in particular that from one quarter to the next can give anywhere from 45 minutes to 2.5 hours!!

In another city that I lived for five years, it was always a treat to get the meter that you never had to feed. It always showed about 12 minutes left. And I don't think the meter maids ever caught on.

There are some 10-hour meters in Sewickley. I'm not sure where they are located but I do believe the police department or road department would know.
