Parking issue continues to plague borough leaders
Tags:
In an upcoming edition of the Sewickley Herald, we'll report on this past Thursday evening's Business District Advisory Committee meeting. Some results of a recent parking survey were released.
Parking has been a hot topic in Sewickley. I'm hoping that readers will continue to discuss their concerns with parking in Sewickley and participate in a new online poll.
Be sure to leave your thoughts, too.

I know this is off the subject of this blog but since you are a reporter for the Herald I would like to ask you about the news that does and does not make it to the Herald. The most recent story was the Prizant carpet story but there have been others that never seem to make news. A couple of years ago there was a car chase where a stolen car excited off 79 and wound through Sewickley Heights. The car ended up turning on to a dead end on Barberry Road and into a manure pile. The driver fled on foot. It was a big deal because the police were stopping cars on Audubon Road and questioning people. I don't think that ever made the Herald. I don't live that far from Barberry Road and actually ended up calling Ohio Township to find out if the driver had been apprehended, I was worried about letting the kids play in the woods near our house. About a year ago a neighbor had a burglary in a secondary building on their property but it never made the news either. I really think that as residence we should know all that is going on in our community not just the good stuff. How does the Herald decide what is fit to print?

It's not really off topic. I appreciate the comments and am learning how this new age of communicating with readers will change newspapers.
I started with Gateway Newspapers in April 2007. I was named as a reporter for the Sewickley Herald in November.
You raise excellent questions and points. I would ask that you contact our editor Dona S. Dreeeland regarding your questions. Her direct line is 412-324-1403. You can e-mail her at sewickley.herald@gatewaynewspapers.com.
The questions you bring up are important to readers and the paper and it's important to discuss it with the people who make decisions. She'd be happy to hear from you.
On a side note... I do hope that everyone who visits YourSewickley.com will leave comments on the stories and interact more. And please don't hesitate to e-mail me or call me if you have a question or a news story idea.

Why don't you suggest to Donna that she check out this great web site and reply to my comments? I am sure there are others in the area that would like to hear her perspective as Editor of the paper. I think the yoursewickley.com web site has great potential for spreading information quickly and in an open manner. Let’s use this Trib tool to discuss the issues. I’ll be checking back soon.
