Sewickley Area Drivers

Why do Sewickley Area Drivers use the passing lane on Route 65 when they aren't passing anyone? For some reason Sewickley drivers feel they must drive from the Haysville Red-light to the I-79 intersection in the passing lane if they're turning off at I-79.

This morning, at rush hour, I entered Route 65 at the Haysville light behind a light colored pick-up truck with and a silver SUV in front of the truck. The lady in the SUV was on her cell phone and drove all the way to the I-79 intersection in the passing lane going slower then the pickup truck driver wanted. He flashed his lights several times and you could see the SUV driver frantically waving her hands. Since the slow lane was crowded she held up many cars that couldn't get around her. I find that the same thing happens in the evening rush hour. Sewickley drivers will jump on Route 65 at I-79 then drive to their turnoff in Sewickley using the passing lane and not passing.

I'm surprised we don't have more road-rage issues on Route 65 in Sewickley.

Road rage? It takes all of my patience and restraint not to get out of my car when I FINALLY arrive at the red light on Beaver and Broad, after having followed someone from Osborne on Beaver Street as they drive, quite literally, in the middle of the road the entire way, only to slam on their brakes if, God forbid, another driver approaches them heading in the other direction. Folks, the entirety of Beaver Street is wide enough to facilitate tractor trailers passing one another... stay on your own side and use your brakes the way they were intended... to stop the vehicle.

I'm positive this way of driving is not just Sewickley drivers. I've seen it everywhere, male and female, young and old. Anymore people just don't give two craps about other people let alone when they are behind the wheel of a vehicle. I personally would like to be able to play bumper cars with the cell phone talkers and texters out there.

How about people that think they are the only people in world and DON'T USE A TURN SIGNAL!!!!! Driving on 79 this morning, I managed to avoid an accident with a "genius" who decided to weave in and out of traffic, without using a turn signal. Did I mention that 79 is under construction around the Sewickley/Mt Nebo exit? Did I mention that it was rush hour? Did I mention that the space between the cars because of the construction is about half of what it should be?

What is the reasoning behind not using this useful little thing we ALL HAVE IN OUR CARS? Has the world become so lazy that it is a painstaking task to reach up and tap the bar down? Or is it because we can't perform this effortless task because we are too busy texting, talking on our cell phones, changing the DVD for the kids, putting on make-up, drinking our coffee, writing a note, etc..... We can't all be THAT busy.
