Relay For Life of Quaker Valley

Beginning Friday, the Sewickley area will fight back against cancer during the annual Relay For Life of Quaker Valley at Chuck Knox Stadium.

With this year's theme of "Keeping Hope Afloat," organizers hope to reach $71,000 at 18-hour event. A total of 25 teams have been raising funds for the fight against cancer. The event has registered 43 area cancer survivors.

The following is a list of events provided by the committee. The public is invited to attend any of the activities.

Saturday, May 31

7 a.m. -- Rise and shine

9 a.m. -- Crafts begin

9:30 a.m. -- Hula hoop contest

10 a.m. -- Spoon and string race

10:30 a.m. -- Fight Back Ceremony

Noon -- Ms. Relay contest

12:30 p.m. -- Cotton-Eyed Joe dance off

1 p.m. -- Tug of war contest

1:45 p.m. -- Final lap

2 p.m. -- Closing Ceremony
