The Quaker Valley boys' basketball games scheduled for Friday, Jan. 20 against Sto-Rox will be played to an invited audience only.

Varsity and junior varsity boys' teams will play in front of only parents and guardians of players and cheerleaders. Tickets will only be provided to those patrons.

There will be no presale or game day tickets available to the public. Walk-up fans without a previously distributed ticket will be turned away. Children under 12 will not need tickets but may attend only if accompanied by their invited parent or guardian.

After much discussion among the athletic departments and leaders of both schools, the Quaker Valley School District took this pro-active approach to avoid altercations among fans like those that resulted in injury during the last meeting of the two teams at Sto-Rox on Dec. 16.

"By limiting the audience to parents and authorized individuals, Quaker Valley endeavors to host a safe and secure game for the team members, cheerleaders, coaching staff, officials and invited family members and guests from both schools," read a QV press release.

The junior varsity contest begins at 6 p.m. and is followed at 7:30 p.m. by the varsity game between the Vikings (5-8, 0-5) and the host Quakers (11-4, 5-1).
