"I'm upset that council did not consider experts' advice concerning the location."
Your poll had the statement above as 1 of 4 choices to the question "What do you think about the location of the planned water park in Leetsdale?"
The gist of that statement is blatantly false. I not only read and considered the "experts' advice" I took about 20 hours of my life to research the matter myself. I found the site that was chosen to be the least intrusive and most visible of the three. I found that the only trees that could possibly be impacted by this location, I don’t think any will, are very robust trees that can grow in anything from sand to clay and have a large tap root, the biggest threat to these type trees is the lack of direct sun. I personally question the information on which these experts based their findings as it was provided by people opposed to the splash pad from the start. They, the experts', appear to have made several incorrect assumptions as to the location of the utilities and the exact placement of the different options.
As for the community being divided by this issue less than one percent of the residents have opposed this.

Please consider the park as it should be remembered. It is a playground meant for children. I have played in this same park as a child a number of years ago and I raised my children here and they played in the park as well. It is a beautiful place to go and I think that the children can share their park with the adults who also visit. The children need a place to go, to release energy. Our children need to get out and exercise. I think that with obesity growing in our nation, we should welcome the opportunity to have children playing outside rather than watching tv and video games all day indoors.
Thank you,
