Bill Cook's one-man show

Also on May 10, but from 6 to 9 p.m., The Gift Corner, located at 422 Broad St., will be hosting an exhibit of works by local artist Bill Cook.

His love of the woods, lakes and seashore of New Hampshire and the glens and streams of Ohio are reflected in his work.

"I seem to have always had a natural understanding of color and design, and I especially enjoy painting outdoors on site (en plein air). Western Pennsylvania offers exceptional landscape subjects," Cook said.

"I am always on the lookout for vibrant colors in the sky, water and land and unique cloud formations that define good patterns of light and shadow."

"The more deeply I'm involved in painting, the more I realize that my love for creating and building things is bubbling up my art."

Cook, a self-taught artist, is a member of the Associated Artists of Pittsburgh, Rockport Art Association in Massachusetts, North Shore Art Association in Gloucester, Hoyt Institute of Fine Arts and Sweetwater Center for the Arts and regularly exhibits in their galleries.

He was juried into the Westmoreland (Museum of American Art) Biennial Exhibition, Associated Artists of Pittsburgh's 250th Anniversary of Pittsburgh Exhibit and Sweetwater Center for the Arts' Celebrate Sewickley.

The Gift Corner invites everyone to attend the event.
